EYP National Session in Basel (September 2022)

Organising an EYP session!

Another year in which the GM delegation sent a delegation to the EYP National Session. Everyone had fun, debated current European issues and improved their debating skills. But what is it like when you change the sides and organise the session? Here's a brief report from Mara!

"Every year at the beginning of September, the National Selection Conference of EYP Switzerland takes place. This time in our beautiful town Basel. As always, we had a couple of GM participants in three different roles. We had two students in the academic / organizing team and seven delegates. Throughout these five very intense days, we formed friendships, learned many new skills, and maybe even developed an addiction to Mate.

As an organizer, the session did not start on the second of September but way back in May when I got accepted as an Organizer. Over the summer holidays, I worked with the rest of the team to supply everyone with food, venues, information, and in-kind products. It was not always an easy task, but the team's dynamic and willingness to help were enormous.

The session itself then officially started two days earlier for us than for the delegates, when we all finally met and got to know each other on Wednesday. We then started to prepare the last minutes things so that everything was ready when the other officials and delegates arrived. Even though the days were long and no one got a lot of sleep, we all had a lot of fun chatting, getting to know other people or playing games.

As always it was a great experience, and you got the chance to see old friends, to make new ones and meet people from all over Europe."
