Coursebooks
The main coursebook for the first two years at our Gymnasium is the English File Upper-Intermediate. We work with the student's book and the workbook for additional exercises. The English File Upper-Intermediate is used to develop the skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking.
The Langenscheidt Grund- und Aufbauwortschatz Englisch is used to learn new vocabulary throughout the four years at the Gymnasium. This dictionary includes all words and phrases that the students are expected to know for the English Matura Exams.The Langenscheidt Grund- und Aufbauwortschatz Englisch is also available as e-book (pdf) or as audio-file for CD- or MP3-players.
IB Englisch Grundlagenfach: Students choosing to do the IB Diploma (Option 1 or Option 2) will study for the IB English B HL exam. To prepare themselves they will use the textbook English B for the IB Diploma in their final two years. Students are not required to buy a copy themselves as they can borrow one from the school library.
IB Englisch Schwerpunktfach: Students choosing "Schwerpunktfach English" will do this in combination with IB (Option 1 or Option 2). In English they will study for the IB English A HL exam. To prepare themselves they will use the textbook English Language and Literature for the IB Diploma in their final two years.
