Students can choose from following main elective subjects:
- Latin Beginner
- Latin Advanced
- Greek
- Spanish
- English with IB
- Philosophy, Psychology & Pedagogy (PPP)
Further options can be combined with all GM main elective subjects:
(A) Diploma Programme of the International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO): English-spoken teaching in 6 subjects (mathematics, history, biology, informatics, geography, Theory of Knowledge) in grades 11-13 leading to a double degree: The Cantonal Matura and the IB Diploma. Apart from these options, GM students attend the same basic subjects taught in all other high schools in Basel.
(B) Immersion (English-German):English-spoken teaching in 5 subjects and IB Certificates in French (compulsory), English (compulsory) and German (optional).
(C) Coaching Classes: In addition to the regular timetable self-work with continuous subject-specific support by own teachers during 4 lessons (2 lessons more than Standard timetable) in Mathematics, French, German and main elective subject. This option cannot be combined with the IB or Immersion track.
Besides these specific optional tracks, GM students attend the same basic subjects as in all other grammar schools in Basel
